About this event

Arts • Craft

If you have thought about starting a journal or trying art journaling but haven't known where to begin, this taster workshop is a lovely introduction to both bookbinding and art journaling to help you.

A great introduction to an enjoyable and supportive creative practice!

Enjoy a gentle time being creative in a small group where you will first of all be guided though a simple bookbinding project to make your personal mini-journal.

Take a moment to experience the feel and sounds of folding and cutting paper, pricking sewing holes and stitching your little book. Feel accomplished when you have crafted your own mini journal.

Working in a book you have made for yourself is a very different experience to using a bought book as you will experience in the second part of the workshop.

To get you started on your art journaling journey, Tamsin will guide you through a selection of different creative strategies.

You will be encouraged to work with mark making, writing, colour, paint and collage in a number of short activities to help you express yourself on the page. All materials are included.

Your book is a safe and private place to try ideas out, and the beauty of creative self care practice is that you can't get it wrong!

This event is hosted in Studio 4, upstairs at Fisherton MIll. Ticket price includes materials for the project and Eventbrite fees and taxes. Your tutor Tamsin Loveday is a professional Artist woking with people, printmaking and book arts. She promtes the wellbeing benefits of creativity for everyone and her mission is to help people reconnect with their inner creative spark. She does this though socially engaged arts practices and by offering a rich programme of creative workshop experiences. In early 2020 Tamsin hosted a 4 week online " Art Journaling Journey" supporting people to explore creative journaling during the first lockdown of the pandemic.

Tamsin is a trained Mental Health First Aider.

Tamsin has kept an art journal for many years and personally experiences the wellbeing benefits of doing so. She calls her journals "companion books" and they are a cross between a journal and a sketchbook.
