A complete beginner in all things fungi? Come along to this workshop to find out about this amazing kingdom – including how they are fundamental to the success of plants across the globe, how they benefit human health and could help us restore our ecosystems. We will then look at the features of mushrooms that you would need to record to identify them to species level – all good skills for bioblitzing!

Stream Dipping - 10:00 - 10:50 @ The Grounds - Organised by Newbattle Abbey Rangers

Splash about with the Woodland Ranger to find out what creepy crawlies live in the River Esk using a net and tray. Wellies and waterproofs are essential and children under 18 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times (please book tickets for both adults and children attending the session). Please note, this activity may be cancelled at short notice if the river is too high – the alternative activity will be bug hunting or a wildlife walk.
