Join the Hertfordshire Climate Change & Sustainability Partnership for our second event focusing on biodiversity, agriculture and food.

This online webinar will consider initiatives in farming and agriculture and whether food production can be diversified, whilst enhancing biodiversity in the local area of Hertfordshire.

The Hertfordshire Climate Change and Sustainability Partnership (HCCSP) is working collaboratively to tackle the impacts of climate change, reduce emissions and to safeguard and enhance biodiversity across Hertfordshire.

HCCSP is made up of 12 partners from each of the 10 district and borough councils in Hertfordshire, along with Hertfordshire County Council and the Local Enterprise Partnership.

Speakers

James Clarke, Head of Communications at Rothamsted Research is the keynote speaker and will talk about farming and the possibilities of delivering wildlife friendly food.

Ros David, County Advisor for Hertfordshire at the National Farmer's Union will present the the NFU perspective.

Rose Lewis, Senior Program Manager at the Soil Association will speak about food systems and share a Hertfordshire based community case study example and aspirations for a recently acquired farm at Wood Oaks.

There will also be an opportunity in this session to hear more about HCCSP and what the partnership has been doing, and then a chance to join a hosted breakout session. The breakout session topics are as follows:

1. A discussion on the potential for land and agriculture in Hertfordshire – what are the challenges, problems, barriers and solutions?

2. Food poverty / food waste and/or food banks

3. Local food production - community orchards/allotments and alternatives for food production beyond agriculture

4. HCCSP priority topic areas and action plans and planning activity prior to COP26 later this year. How do you want to be involved and how should HCCSP engage with communities across the county?
