About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Distinct from our FAS Farm Wildlife Walks, this workshop is designed to help you complete a biodiversity audit for your Whole Farm Plan. Land managers now need to undertake two out of five potential audits, with all five audits necessary by 2028.

Biodiversity audits have the advantage of being something you can do yourself with a little time and understanding. Whether you’re new to biodiversity assessments or just looking for guidance, this interactive workshop will teach you how to create a habitat map of your farm and identify key habitats and species on your farm.

What to expect:

  • Clear guidance on what’s required for the biodiversity audit
  • Provide guidance on how to recognise and map habitats.
  • Introduce resources that can assist you to undertake this audit including online databases, maps, and tools to help you recognise different species.
  • Introduce NatureScot’s Farm Biodiversity Scotland App. The App’s user-friendly interface allows land managers to create high quality habitat maps simply with a mobile phone, tablet or desktop computer.
  • Opportunity to ask questions and get one-to-one support
  • Take-home materials to help you complete your audit

This workshop is free to attend and open to all farmers preparing their Whole Farm Plan. We will be meeting at 10am, and then the event will begin at 10:30 am. This is an outdoor event so please bring appropriate clothing.
