Event description

Description

The UK’s first Good Practice Principles on Biodiversity Net Gain were published in November 2016 by CIRIA (the Construction Industry Research and Information Association), CIEEM (the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management) and IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment). These principles defined Biodiversity Net Gain as development that leaves biodiversity in a better state than before, and as an approach whereby developers work with local stakeholders to support their priorities for nature conservation.

The next phase of this work is to produce pragmatic guidance, drawing on experience and evidence across the UK, on how to implement these principles. A Project Team including Balfour Beatty, WSP and Footprint Ecology has been appointed to write the guidance, guided by an industry steering group drawn from the private and public sectors.

This workshop will involve a presentation from Tom Butterworth and Laura Homfray from WSP, followed by a discussion of key issues for the guidance. The aim will be to gather your input and thoughts, questions and challenges that still need to be addressed.

Please note, some parking is available on the slope infront of the building. WSP is located on the sixth floor of Mountbatten House. The train station is approximately 10 minutes walk.
