Biochemical Society Seminar: Clathrin Adaptors and Neurodegeneration
Speaker: Dr Jennifer Hirst (Jesus College Cambridge)
Dr Hirst is a Principal Research Associate at Jesus College Cambridge. Her main interests focus on membrane trafficking and its role in a number of human diseases such as neurodegenerative diseases (including Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia) and Lysosomal storage diseases. In 2011, Dr Jennifer Hirst has identified a novel human adaptor complex involved in protein trafficking named AP-5 and associated with Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (https://www.cam.ac.uk/research/news/transporter-5-solving-an-ancient-mystery-of-the-cell) and discovered mutations in other clathrin adaptors associated with human pathologies.
