Description

With ever increasing threats to information security, biometric technologies are seen by some as an intelligent means of safeguarding information, but by others as part of the threat.

This lunchtime session will be led by Chris Haden and Nick Harness who both have deep practical experience in identity technology services. They will be discussing the various current challenges and future opportunities around the use of biometric technologies including validation, verification and privacy risks.

Doors open at 12 noon for presentation at 12.30

Chris Haden – CEO, Engeneum Limited

Chris has been involved in Information Capture, Sharing and Archiving since early 1990. This has evolved into Digital Asset Management and preservation. Delivering solutions across many industry sectors and government departments that provide high security document and data delivery to solve business challenges.

This has become even more important recently with the need to capture, and keep secure, identity information to satisfy the growing regulatory demands.

Now the key word is ‘Sharing’ as more and more organisations need to maintain controlled secure access to individuals Identity information to facilitate processes and prevent fraud. Chris is currently involved in several high profile ID related projects, including the London Counter Fraud Hub (LCFH).

Nick Harness - CEO, The Identity Organisation

Nick has over 20 years’ experience in business start-ups and regeneration across various markets. Nick was instrumental in the growth of the background checking industry and identity validation services in the UK and until 2011, Nick was director at Experian Background Checking following his initial start-up of BackgroundChecking.com in 2002 and the eventual acquisition of the business by Experian in 2006.

Nick is also one of the founder members of PREFiT (Protecting Employers From Insider Threats), and is a regular speaker at industry events and an advisor to both the public and private sectors on the topic of both identity and application fraud.

Currently Nick is involved in business development within the identity validation, data security and data sharing arena, working closely with Central Government agencies and other public sector organisations to help combat the major issue of identity crime.
