HTGAA Biotech Night with David Kong

Join David Kong, head of the Community Biotechnology Initiative at MIT Media Lab, for an inspiring evening at Lifefabs Institute exploring the How to Grow (Almost) Anything (HTGAA)movement in synthetic biology. This global initiative brings together the worlds of biological design, art, collective intelligence, and STEAM education to unlock new possibilities in science and creativity.

HTGAA is a pioneering course from Harvard and MIT Media Lab designed to make cutting-edge bioengineering accessible to everyone, from seasoned bio-enthusiasts to those new to the life sciences. Through a distributed network of global learning nodes, the program is democratising synthetic biology education, empowering students to gain hands-on experience in labs and apply their learning to real-world projects.

As Europe’s official HTGAA node, Lifefabs Institute is proud to host and support learners at the frontier of biotech education. Last year, 89 students joined the program at our institute, and this coming year we are ready to welcome even more.

At this special talk and meet & greet, you’ll discover David Kong’s bioengineering research, includes advances in organ-on-a-chip technologies and pioneering techniques for gene synthesis within microfluidic systems. David has developed technologies ranging from nanoscale printing with energetic beams to innovations shaping the future of biology-on-a-chip platforms.

Join us to learn more about HTGAA, connect with the global synthetic biology community, and be inspired by the transformative work taking place at the intersection of biology, design, and technology.Your ticket covers a drink at the Lab Kitchen Afterwards & the eventbrite fee.

About Lifefabs Institute: Community Biofab Lab & Research Space

Lifefabs is an open-access biofabrication space that provides graduates, creatives, schools, communities and scientists access to scientific learning and exchange knowledge around biofabrication.

We want to break down barriers to research and STEAM learning, offering a space to learn, experiment and contribute to our understanding of biomaterials and bioengineering. A space for interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, Lifefabs encourages non-scientists, local communities to feel welcome and be curious about Biodesign, promoting accessibility though hands-on community lab.
