Bird House Pottery Workshop

Bird House Pottery Workshop

By Helen McCormick Ceramics

Overview

Come and join me for a fun day learning how to create your own bird house for your garden from clay. No experience necessary.

Hello,

My name is Helen McCormick and I'm a local ceramic artist and teacher. I've been creating objects from clay for the past 30 years, and I still absolutely love the process. I am passionate about teaching and have created this workshop to share my skills, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to have a go for the first time or to develop their skills further.

This workshop is designed to be a relaxed, friendly space where you can meet new people and have the opportunity to create, learn and have fun. In the morning, you will learn how to design and make your own bird house using traditional slab building techniques. In the afternoon, you will learn how to apply coloured decorating slips to add pattern and decoration to your beautiful house.

All materials and equipment will be provided. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the day. The only thing you need to bring is a packed lunch and an apron or wear old clothes.

After the workshop, I will carefully take your bird house home and fire them in my kiln. Your work will need to be glazed so that it's weather proof. Your beautiful creations will be ready for collection After the workshop, I will carefully take your bird house home and fire them in my kiln. Your work will need to be glazed so that it's weather proof. Your beautiful creations will be ready for collection approximately 6 weeks after the workshop finishes from Nancy Potter House. I will let you know the time and date.

NB: I am happy to store your work for 6 months from the collection date, after which time your work will be donated to charity.
