Birds of Prey Identification
Overview
Elmley National Nature Reserve is known for its impressive variety of birds of prey, including both owls and harriers. Visitors can expect to see common buzzards, hen harriers, marsh harriers, peregrine falcons, merlins, kestrels, sparrowhawks, little owls, and barn owls. Elmley also offers specialized wildlife experiences focused on owls and birds of prey.
The course will begin with a presentation in the meeting room. You will then spend the rest of the day watching birds of prey on the reserve. Advice will be provided on how to observe and identify the various species in the field.
Led by Simon Ginnaw, Ornithologist. Simon is the main Nature Guide and Reserve Warden at the Elmley National Nature Reserve, and has been birding for over 20 years. He regularly undertakes bird surveys, is an international birdwatching guide, and teaches a number of bird-related courses.
