Birdwatching for Beginners at Lorton Meadows
Overview
Join us for week 1 of our Birdwatching for Beginners Course. In this opening week we will be learning how to identify some of the woodland and garden birds found at Lorton Meadows Nature Reserve. We recomend attending all 3 weeks of this course and you will recieve a free copy of the Bloomsbury Concise Bird Guide if you do so.
Lorton Meadows is an important areas for nature conservation, supporting a great diversity of wildlife and their associated habitats.
Throughout the guided walk we will aim to spot as many species of birds as possible, and starting early in the day offers the best chance to see many of our woodland and garden birds including woodpeckers, warblers and birds of prey. As well as birding hints and tips there will be plenty of time to ask questions and more information about the nature reserve will be given throughout the walk.
The walk will start at 06:30am and will last for approximately 2 hours. Please aim to arrive 5-10 minutes before the start time.
Please bring with you binoculars and if you have a telescope that may be useful too. We do have a very limited number of binoculars to borrow and there will also be use of a telescope.
This event is suitable for beginners to birdwatching and for families, but all children (min age 8yrs) must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Sturdy footwear (eg walking boots) is recommended as we will be going over some uneven ground, and as the site is fairly exposed, please bring with you plenty of warm clothing and waterproofs just in case!
Sorry No Dogs Allowed.
