Birdwatching for beginners

This course is an introduction to birdwatching and will aim at providing basic skills to identify species in the wild. Because of the location we will focus mainly on birds found in woodland and grassland habitats. The course runs from 10am till 3pm.
Course outline - Introduction of the day and ourselves, morning indoors presentation/discussion and afternoon outdoors bird survey.
What to bring with you -Waterproof jacket, trousers and footwear, a packed lunch and a pair of binoculars if you have them.
Trainer details - Claire is originally from the North East of France, I developed an interest for birds when I came to work in Shetland! From there I worked for various organisations in ornithological surveying and research and in environmental education in Britain and abroad. I now work as a Senior Project Officer for TCV and I go birdwatching and bird ringing in my spare time.
Lunch - Please bring a packed lunch

Directions- The course takes place at Glengoyne Lodge at Auchengillan Outdoors Centre. For driving participants, please park in the main car park and walk down to the lodge. Go past the toilet block to your right and follow the footpath leaving the grass sledges to your left. You will see the clear fell area to your right and the laser tag site. The lodge is immediately in from of you then.
