Join the knowledgable ornithologist Jack Ashton-Booth for this informative stroll around the Yorkshire Wolds learning how to identify birds. Jack will show you how to pick out the songs of different species and point out different habitats so that you can learn to see more when you are out and about in the countryside.
This walk has been timed to take place on the eve of the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch and Jack hopes it will encourage you to use the skills you pick up to take part in this vital national bird count on your return home. He will show you how to take part when you arrive.
After your walk you are invited into the Thixendale gallery of the acclaimed artist Robert E Fuller to browse his stunning collection of paintings of the birds you will have just spotted in the wild.
This walk will involve a steep climb and requires a medium level of fitness. Please wear appropriate, sturdy footwear and clothing to suit the weather – windproof jacket, fleece etc. It can get very cold on the Wolds at this time of year so please don't underestimate how many layers you will need. Bring a hat and gloves too! Also bring binoculars if you have them.
