Birkbeck's Big Ideas?
A series of thought provoking FREE events, designed to inspire and bring world class Birkbeck academics to the local community.
About the Talk
Cities including Bristol in the UK and Santa Monica in the US have developed and delivered wellbeing indexes. Through these initiatives, which attempt to understand residents’ subjective wellbeing alongside more traditional measures, Mayors and Civic Leaders want their cities to become ‘a beacon for health, happiness and wellbeing’. Given how badly London and its boroughs compares to other UK regions in current happiness and wellbeing indexes, is this an approach which could work here?
Who is David Tross?
David is an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Geography, Environment and Development Studies. He teaches the first year of the BSc Community Development and Public Policy at Birkbeck. His research explores perspectives of happiness and wellbeing from individuals across the UK.
The event is FREE and open to all, but please note that seating is allocated on a first come first served basis. Registration and refreshments start at 6pm and the talk will commence at 6.15pm. We look forward to welcoming you to this Birkbeck's Big Idea event!
