What is Birkbeck's Big Ideas?
A series of thought provoking FREE events, designed to inspire and bring world class Birkbeck academics to the local community
About the Talk
Laura Jacobus will talk about the research she does on fourteenth-century Italian art. What’s so special about it, and what still needs to be found out? She’ll talk about some of the discoveries she’s made and how she goes about researching one of the biggest mysteries she faces in her work: how can we rediscover the ‘forgotten women’ who saw this art? Who were they, what did they see and what did they think? When ‘History of Art’ becomes ‘Herstory of Art’, the results might surprise you!
Who is Laura Jacobus?
Laura Jacobus lives locally, and has taught at Birkbeck for twenty-five years. She teaches History of Art to BA and MA students, and researches Italian Medieval and Renaissance Art.
Join us next month (8th February 2017) for: “The Perils and Pleasures of Inheritance" with Daniel Monk.
