Birkbeck's Big Ideas?
A series of thought provoking FREE events, designed to inspire and bring world class Birkbeck academics to the local community
About the Talk
Health psychology helps provide a way of looking at how psychological processes are linked to health, illness, and healthcare. For example, some of my health psychology research has been about alcohol use among young people. This talk is designed to give a sense of the different ways in which we can look at health behaviour using different research methods using illustrations from my research and other peoples’ research.
Who is Dr Dominic Conroy?
Dr Dominic Conroy is a Research Fellow based in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Birkbeck, University of London, England. He teaches social psychology for The Open University and has taught at Birkbeck and University of Sussex. In his mixed methods PhD research at University of Sussex, Dr. Conroy investigated links between health behaviour and perceptions of ‘the typical non-drinker’ held by university students as well as studying the lived experience of being a non-drinker in student social settings. His current research concerns young offenders’ experiences of multi-systemic therapy as part of an NIHR funded study.
The event is FREE and open to all, but please note that seating is allocated on a first come first served basis. Registration and refreshments start at 6pm and the talk will commence at 6.15pm. We look forward to welcoming you to this Birkbeck's Big Idea event!
