1.Brexit and beyond – recruiting and retaining migrant workers
This session will help you prepare not only for Brexit but also the new immigration system expected from 1 January 2021.
We will cover:
•Best practices to support current employees affected by Brexit;
•How proposed changes to Immigration Rules will affect your ability to recruit the staff you need; and
•What you should be doing now to prepare.

2.Employee ownership and engagement
Awareness of Employee Ownership and Employee Ownership Trusts has reached an all-time high, no doubt assisted by the media coverage of high profile moves to the sector. Most recently Julian Richer, CEO and founder of Richer Sounds, made the headlines for transferring control of his business to its employees by way of a £9.2m sale to an EOT. Join Lisa Hayward, head of Employee Incentives at Birketts, to learn:
•Why businesses in the EO sector have greater levels of engagement and higher productivity than those outside of the sector;
•How EO models including EOTs work;
•What you could do to replicate the benefits of EO culture in your business.

3. Appearing in an employment tribunal
Have you ever been called to appear as a witness or advocate in the employment tribunal? Are you prepared for what to expect? Our Employment Judge, Kevin Palmer, will provide a unique insight into how best to prepare, what happens on the day, and how to maximise your chances of getting the tribunal on your side. He will guide you through what is expected of a witness or advocate and some of the pitfalls to avoid.

4. Developing your engagement strategy
What do the best employers in the eastern region actually do to improve their employee engagement?
We will hear how different businesses and organisations in this region are putting employee engagement at the top of their people strategy. In practical terms, how do they engage staff to ensure they are ready for the changing world of work? Do millennials really need something different?

5.Workplace investigations – key dos and don’ts
The significance of the investigatory stage of a grievance or disciplinary matter is all too often underestimated. In this session, our investigation specialist Lorna Townsend will draw on her extensive experience of conducting workplace investigations and share with you her top tips for getting it right. The session will cover:
•Terms of reference
•Choice of investigator
•Witness interviews
•Investigation reports
•The aftermath

6.Collective consultation – how to manage a large scale restructure
This session will focus on the key steps of a collective consultation process and help you to identify, and avoid, the common pitfalls.
We will cover:
•When does it apply? Redundancies and other restructuring scenarios.
•When to commence consultation, and with whom.
•When to conclude consultation.
•Collective consultation and TUPE.
