Event description
Sharing the findings of Monitoring and Evaluation Lab's (BCU) evaluation of Birmingham City Council's arts development programme 2016-19

About this Event

The purpose of the event is to share findings from M & E Lab's research project exploring the impact of Birmingham City Council’s Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) arts development programme (2016 – 2019). Following the closure of Newtown Cultural Project (trading as The Drum), Birmingham City Council (BCC) Cultural Development Services launched a series of arts development programmes, co-funded by Arts Council England. The programmes aimed to finance arts projects working with leaders, artists and audiences from a BAME demographic. This covers the ASTONish, CREATE, Cultural Re:Generation, and recent BAME funding programmes and projects. There will be ample opportunity to discuss the significance of the evaluation findings and recommendations, and how they might inform future cultural strategy.

The event is suited to: those who took part in or benefited from the funding programmes; those who would like to discuss the future of such programmes; organisations engaged in the offer of similar funding programmes, given the transferability of much of the recommendations.

  • 1:00-2:30 M&E Lab evaluation: key findings, recommendations, panel discussion from project stakeholders and beneficiaries (participants TBC), chaired by Rebbecca Hemmings, Strawberry Words
