About the focus group

In this half-day focus group, we will discuss the barriers, challenges and support available for D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent professionals in the arts and cultural sector, drawing on your lived experience as a leader or someone on a leadership journey.

The focus group will take place between 1:30pm and 4:00pm, with a scheduled comfort break halfway through. We can have additional breaks as the group sees fit.

About the research

Art Reach and All in Leicester have been commissioned to deliver important research into how we can increase the representation of disabled leaders in Arts Council England’s NPOs in the Midlands, as well as across the creative and cultural sector in the region.

All data required for signing up to these focus groups will only be used to communicate information about these meetings and to update you on the research. It will not be used in any other way.

A member of the Art Reach team will take notes during the focus group.

Any personal information shared in the focus group will be treated with the strictest of confidence.

In our final report to Arts Council England, all data will be anonymised and/ or aggregated.

We are grateful for all people that contribute their time and ideas to this research. We will ask all contributors to this research if they are happy to be named in the report as a research participant in a separate consent form.

Accessibility

We endeavour to make the focus groups as accessible as possible. We will send you a copy of the agenda and key questions we will explore by email one week before the focus group, and we are providing BSL interpreting as standard. If you’d like to know the names of the interpreters, please email us on hello@artreach.org.uk.

Getting to the library

Disabled parking spaces are limited. Please let us know if you need one on the order form.

If you need to bring a personal assistant, carer or assistance animal, please let us know on the order form.

We have a budget to cover your travel costs. Please keep your train, taxi and mileage receipts to make a claim after the focus group.

Remuneration

Where we engage directly with freelance creative and cultural practitioners as research participants, we will comply with Arts Council England’s Consulting Creative and Cultural Practitioners Policy and offer remuneration for time spent working with us on this important project.

Refreshments

Tea, coffee, water and biscuits will be provided. Vegan and gluten free options will be provided. Please let us know of any dietary requirements or allergies in the order form.
