Discover Birmingham’s hidden heritage sites by bike as their trained ride leaders will take you along one of our fantastic ‘Secret Birmingham – Heritage Cycle Routes’ .

When: Sunday 14th September 2025

Time: 10am - 1pm

Location: The Hub on the Green, Bournville

What to expect:

This is a family friendly route, mostly traffic free via fantastic green spaces, shared paths and some quiet streets. You will pass amazing local heritage points including sites in Bournville Village and hear interesting stories of the Northfield Library Suffragettes as well as learn about the thousands of years of history as we search for ice age stones in Cotteridge.

This led ride is your chance to learn new bike-friendly routes, explore Birmingham by bike with a group and visit some of Birmingham’s hidden heritage sites along the way.

Leaving promptly at 10am. Expect to be out for approx. 2-3hrs using cycle paths, green spaces, shared paths and a few quiet roads. Led by qualified ride leaders.

Starting/finishing at the Hub on The Green in Bournville.

We will ride at a gentle pace with plenty of pits stops and opportunity for a refreshment/toilet break. The ride is suitable for all the family (recommended for ages 5 years plus) participants should have basic bike handling skills and the ability to ride for 2-3hrs.

Please note children will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult and have their own bike and helmet to take part. Adult bikes are available to borrow but are limited and must be added at time of booking – Please bring your own bike if possible.

Whether you're new to riding, looking to build confidence or a regular cyclist this ride is for you.
Ride led by qualified leaders, Family friendly and suitable for all abilities.
These are social activities, the pace will be gentle, nobody gets left behind. Expect lots of chatting, pitstops and smiles.

Things to remember:

  • Dress for the weather - Think about suitable footwear, gloves, suncream, a water proof and extra layers are a good idea just in case.
  • Bring a drink/snacks for when you are out on the ride

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to join the led bike ride or walk?

You are welcome to just come along for a cuppa, join in with all or only some of the activities. The door will remain open for people to come and go as they please, however we advise booking for the led walk and bike ride as spaces are limited.
