Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know the dances already?

Nope! Schuggie calls all the dances, usually twice – all you need to do is turn up and join in. Bring sensible shoes to dance in, along with some imagination and a sense of humour.

Do I need to bring a partner?

Not at all – ceilidhs are super social, so you’ll be dancing with lots of different people.Let Schuggie (the Caller) know if you want someone to dance with, and he will hook you up

What should I wear?

Comfy clothes and shoes you can move in. Trainers are perfect – high heels are a no-no unless you fancy a trip to A&E.

Is it suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! Even if you’ve got two left feet, you’ll be spinning in no time.

Can kids come along?

Yes – our events are family-friendly unless stated otherwise. Under-16s should bring a grown-up. Also, kids dance for free- £0.00 charge.

Is there a bar?

Yes – and we fully endorse the ‘re-hydrate, then dance again’ routine. The venue has a well-stocked, reasonably priced ba,r and the water is free.

How long does the ceilidh last?

Doors open at 7.30 pm with the dancing starting at 8. We will do a few dances, then a break and repeat that throughout the night. We finish the evening at about 10.30 ? Final fling: Auld Lang Syne

How do I get tickets?

Tickets? Nah, no stress – just rock up! It’s £5 on the door (cash or card), and kids are totally free. You can book ahead through Eventbrite if you like feeling organised, but honestly… we love a last-minute legend.

Anything else I need to know?

? We sometimes film to help improve future ceilidhs & show the world how awesome you lot are. If you don’t want to be on camera, just say so on the night.

Is there disable access to the function room?

Please note there is no lift or disabled access to the dance floor? It’s up a flight of stairs. Sorry!

Can I come to just watch?

Yes, and it's the same price. Please note there is no lift or disabled access to the dance floor? It’s up a flight of stairs. Sorry!
