    This course is for women and birthing people booked to give birth at Whipps Cross hospital.

    Please book ONE ticket per couple (You and your support person)

    Please cancel your ticket promptly if no longer required, so that someone else can book a space.

    We recommend you aim to participate in these classes when you are around 30-32 weeks pregnant.


    The whole course consists of 3 sessions:


    1. Physiology of labour
    2. Deviations from physiological labour
    3. Postnatal period and looking after newborn baby


    Please book these sessions separately. Each class lasts approximately two - two and a half hours, including break.


    Session 2 - Deviations from physiological of labour.

    In this session you will learn about: 

    • Medical interventions 
    • Alternative modes of delivery 
    • Induction of labour 
    • What happens when your baby is in breech position at 36 weeks gestation? 
    • Pharmacological pain relief in labour 
    • What happens after birth? 
    • Immediate postnatal period
    • Your stay in the hospital - what to expect

    Please book yourself for our Breastfeeding/Colostrum harvesting classes as well!

    The course aims to be an interactive, safe space for you to ask questions and actively participate.
