FAQ
What will I be doing in the class?
Besides having the most fun ever? We will be going over some cookie facts, decorating techniques and you will be decorating your very own set of cookies that you will take home with you that day.
Can I purchase an additional take-home kit?
Yes! Many parents or practicing cookiers purchase additional class kits to take home and re-do the classes. You can purchase an add-on kit during check-out. Your kit will be available at the end of your class - so don't forget it!
Do I need to know how to bake?
Nope! No baking history required. We will have the cookies pre-made for you along with the icing already mixed and colored. Have a little decorating experience? Come on too! I can help with questions on icing mixing and dough spread!
What will we learn in class?
You’ll learn what goes into preparing royal icing, the value of different icing consistencies – we’ll touch on tips and tricks to make your cookies look even better than they taste (and they taste good). You’ll also learn different decorating techniques depending on the class theme such as marbling, outlining, and wet-on-wet. Or hey – go off script and make your own designs – it’s your class! Have fun!
What do I need to bring?
Nothing but a positive attitude! Everything will be provided for you including my (rather tasty) sugar cookies. All you need to do is join us and have fun! Messy decorator? You can bring your own apron or just wear easy-to-wash clothing. There is a PowerPoint for reference, so if you wear glasses, we'd encourage you to bring them as well. Oh – and bring your phone – we love seeing your photos!
What age is best for cookie classes?
This class is great for any age; however, on this occasion we are limiting attendees to those 16+. If you think your child may enjoy cookie decorating, purchase an additional take-home kit and you can teach your kids in the comfort of your own home.
Can my child take the class?
This class is designed just for adults, but stay tuned and sign up to our newsletter -- we have classes for the whole family coming soon!
What will I bring home?
By the end of the class, you will have created a set of six gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24 - 48 hours in their own box. I’ll send you a link with a list of the tools we used in class so that you can recreate these cookies at home. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun!
Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?
You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. The more the merrier! We have a limited capacity, so definitely sign up ASAP!
Where are the classes located?
This class will be held at the Duke of Cambridge, Battersea - 228 Battersea Bridge Road, London, SW11 3AA.
I signed up for a class but can't make it?
We understand that life happens so that’s why we allow you to cancel up to 7 days before the class. You can always transfer your spot to a friend though (and what a lovely friend you are). Any cancelation after the 7 days will be a class credit redeemable for up to six months from the credit issue date. Please read below for full Cancelation Policies.
Things to Bring
Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here are some things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience:
· Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re working with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).
· Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away (or close up!), eye glasses may be a great bet.
· Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
· Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.
About Lost Together Bakery
Who doesn’t love getting out and learning a fun, new skill over a glass of bubbles, while also eating delicious cookies? That’s what Lost Together Bakery is all about!
This class is hosted in Battersea, and caters to the beginner cookier or people just looking to have fun learning something new. Whether you just want a fun date, a girls-or-guys-night-out or just want to explore what cookie decorating is on your own - we have a seat for you.
For our classes, all you will need to bring is yourself (and an apron if you are a messy decorator), and we’ll take care of the rest. You will get a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty) as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate them during the 1.5-hour class. You will leave the class with your very own box of your very own newly decorated cookies!
A little about me: Hi! I'm Lesli and I’ve been baking cookies since forever -- some of my earliest happy memories are in the kitchen with my grandmothers. I've been operating Lost Together Bakery since 2022 after getting hooked on cookie decorating during one of the many, many lock-downs – and I’ve not put down a scribe since (don’t know what a scribe is? I’ll teach you in class!). As a bakery, we specialise in bespoke, decorated cookies, made as sustainably as possible. My favorite cookie themes to decorate are florals and unique client requests – but I can do pretty much anything if icing’s involved. I love what I do –- it’s the sweetest job in the world!
I have classes throughout the year which feature different themes so make sure to sign up for our newsletter so you can be the first to know.
Cancelation / Refund / Sick Policy
Showing Symptoms Before 7 Days Out:
If you’re sick prior to the 7-day refund cutoff, you can cancel for a full refund! And might we say thank you for quarantining. Just email us or follow the Eventbrite cancellation procedure.
Showing Symptoms After 7-Days Out:
For any sickness symptoms prior to your class’s start time but after the 7-day refund policy, please email us before your class’s start time, and we’ll give you a credit for the next class.
You Don't Show Up or Email Prior To Class:
If I do not hear from you before your class’s start time, and you do not show up for class, I won’t be able to offer you a refund or a credit even if you're sick. So please reach out before class if you’re feeling unwell.
Add-On Kits
The class comes with everything you need to decorate six cookies, but we also offer add-on kits to continue the fun at home. Order an additional cookie kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you'll use in class. Cookie Class DIY Kits are created before your class, and you'll pick them up and take them with you after class.
How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies and icing keep them fresh for a long time, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home. Cookies are heat sealed for freshness – but again, use it in under a week to make sure it tastes the best.
Allergens:
Cookies include the following ingredients: Sugar, flour (WHEAT), butter (MILK), plant butter, EGGS, glucose syrup, cornflour, vanilla extract, meringue powder (EGGS), salt, food colourings (some of which may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children).
Please note – these cookies are prepared in a kitchen that also bakes with common, known allergens including fish, nuts, peanuts, mustard, and sesame. While we take every precaution to avoid cross-contamination, there is always a small risk.
Please consider your allergies before registering.
Class Cancelation Policy: Classes may be canceled at the discretion of me, the event host, or the pub. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you’ll receive a 100% refund including your Eventbrite fees.
Classes with attendance below the minimum required will be cancelled. Don’t be sad! You'll receive either a credit for a future class (along with my apologies), or a full refund. I’ll let you know if your class has low attendance 7 day before the event is cancelled so that you can bring a friend (hint hint) or find other plans for that day.
Eventbrite Fees: Your ticket price includes your ticket fees; however, Eventbrite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, you'll receive a refund less the Eventbrite fee – since I don’t get this fee back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – it's a rubbish policy!
