About this Event

Bishopton PRU is proud to be hosting an event for colleagues who wish to develop their skills engaging with the disengaged. There will be a range of expert speakers and workshops throughout the day. This collaborative one day conference will share good practise, practical insights and reflect upon the implications and challenges of Engaging with the Disengaged. You will leave the conference with a more in depth knowledge of current issues and the impact on learning; an understanding of practical strategies to improve the emotional resilience of our learners; as well as strategies to embed SEMH related learning within the curriculum.

The national picture on Curriculum and implications for SEMH provision

Michelle Richards, Executive - Headteacher of Furrowfield and Eslington schools

Learning through teaching a curriculum with purpose and relevance for SEMH pupils now and in their future working life.

Helen Woodley -Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing at Northumbria University.

A former PRU SENDCo now working as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing at Northumbria University. She teaches on a range of programmes within education and mental health. Her research interests include the use of autoethnography and fictionalised narratives to share professional voice as well as the impact of workplace cultures on professional and personal identities.

We will be providing breakfast and lunch and there will be a raffle with some fantastic prizes. Each delegate will receive a goodie bag and there will be some stalls to visit at lunch time.

There will also be an opportunity to look around our provision and experience our breakfast club.
