Developing  your brand and making it work hard

In the current climate, it's vital to stand out from your competitors.  What do you do, why is it different, and why should people come to you?  A strong brand will answer all of these questions, and follow this through in every form of communication in which it engages.

This workshop will take you through the key steps in defining a brand proposition, and how to use this properly in creating an effective marketing strategy and plan. 

With a mixture of coaching, group work and discussion, delegates will have the opportunity to practice the skills they learn, taking back valuable and practical knowledge to their own organisations.

Morning session

 Standing out from the crowd: developing a strong market positioning or USP

  • Introduction to the day, and marketing definitions
  • What is market positioning?
  • Key steps to building a unique brand proposition
  • Using supporting evidence
  • Developing a brand character
  • How do the proposition and character inform visual identity?
  • Making sure your brand is used properly - guidelines
  • Example/case study

Afternoon session

Bringing the USP to life: building a communications strategy and action plan

  • Background to your marketing
  • What is a communications strategy vs a marketing plan?
  • Key steps to building a strategy
  • The changing media landscape – digital and social
  • Communications channel planning
  • Putting it all together 

The Trainer 

Tahlia is a not-for-profit marketing specialist, supporting the sector with strategic marketing, digital and PR & Communications support, and has previously held senior marketing positions with Social Investment Business Group and Charities Aid Foundation.
She holds a Degree in Marketing Management, and is also CIM qualified. She has been a tutor and assessor for University Marketing Courses. 
Tahlia works with Economic Change, as well as other charities and social enterprises, to deliver strategic and creative marketing communications support across the marketing communications mix.
 
The workshop is part of the
