Description

Have you ever had to call on an steely inner strength you never knew you had, or had to push for something that was due to you, but still found those experiences hugely outside your comfort zone?

This evening, led by business psychologist Paula Gardner of Scarlet Thinking, is a frank and fun discussion about the balance between between hard and soft energy, between asking for what you want and being made to feel a bitch.

It's easy to label it as "pushy" or "ambitious" but asking for what you want is vital when it comes to negotiating salaries, telling prospective clients how much you charge, putting fees up or standing your ground when you find yourself bullied or sidelined.

We begin by looking at why, culturally, it sometimes takes a lot of effort to stand your ground, and why you may find yourself a warrior at work and a pushover at home....or vice versa. We will also do an exercise to look at how you can get more comfortable with asking for what you want!

We will also hear from two members of Scarlet Thinking's mastermind groups: Melanie Charles and Angela Durrant. Melanie Charles will be sharing her exerience of the time she was bullied at work, by another woman. She'll be talking about how she stood her ground under hard duress, why it's made her who she is today and why she's thankful for the lesson. Last year Melanie left the her job as Head of Learning and Development, to do what she loves, helping individuals make change in their life through coaching. She is a business, life and wellness coach with a passion for meditation. She is also partial to a good coffee and a cheeky gin.

Angela Durrant will be visiting us from Wales for the evening. Angela is a vocal coach who cites the Ministry of Defence as one of her clients. Personal impact is as much what you don’t say as what you do and your ability to show up authentically is the first impression people have of you. It is a presence that everyone has and can increasingly tap into.

She will be taking us through some exercises that will help ground us as well as quieten our minds for handling times of stress on and off any platform. This will help us speak with strength and confidence, a key part of being seen as assertive and not aggressive

We'd love you to join us for what should be a very interesting evening.
