Bite-sized Learning: Taking on your first employee
If you’ve got a growing business, you won’t be able to do everything by yourself for ever.
Taking on your first employee is a huge step. How much should you pay them? How do you check if they have the legal right to work here? What insurance do you need? What do you need to do about their pension? And what should you do if it all goes wrong and you need to part company?
Where? The 1st Central County Ground, Eaton Road, Hove, BN3 3AN
When? Tuesday 15 November, 09:30 - 11:30
Who For? Anyone who is likely to take on their first employee soon, or employers who already have staff, but want to ensure they are doing everything by the book.
Who By? Pam Loch and Julie Nicholds from Loch Associates, which offers employment law advice and HR consultancy to employers.
These questions and many more will be answered in this Bite-size session. And while it focuses on the procedures required to appoint a new employee, it will look at recruitment strategy and how to manage and retain staff too.
You’ll leave the session with a copy of the slides and links to government resources. You’ll also take away knowledge of how to comply with legislation and how to start managing people for the first time.
