to invite you to an ‘Introduction to Social Media’ session
Thursday 4th October 2012, London
The rise of social media presents new challenges and opportunities, yet few have so far engaged with them in a systematic way. This course provides an introduction to the potential advantages and disadvantages of using social media in and outside of work.
It will explore some of the key social media platforms, examining their potential for communications. Participants will critically review some examples of social media and make informed choices about how social media could be used.
After attending this activity, you should be able to:
1. Outline the features of and differences between selected social media
2. Identify applications for social media
3. Develop a presence in a chosen social media platform
Learners may want to be familiarise themselves with the Cabinet Office guidance on social media
Mike Kidd, who will be tutoring the course, has been an active trade unionist for a number of years and been teaching ICT skills to trade union representatives, staff and officers since 2008.
Please note that there will also be a pre-course self-assessment survey for you to complete during registration that will help us shape the training. All responses will be treated in confidence.
