Wednesday, 25 September 2013 from 12:00 to 14:00 (BST)
Intellectual Property Seminar & Networking Event
Wednesday 25th September 2013, 12-2pm (Lunch provided)
Institute of R&D, Birmingham Research Park
This is an open event.
We would like to invite you to the first seminar to be held at BizzInn, a new business incubator established by the University of Birmingham and hosted by Birmingham Research Park . BizzInn has been set up to offer free office space and support to innovative start-up enterprises
Our sponsors Harrison Goddard Foote, will be delivering a session on Intellectual Property. They offer one-to-one and group advice on registering, controlling, protecting and exploiting IPR through patenting, trade-marks, design registrations.
Intellectual property (IP) is an intangible property that is the result of creativity and innovation and which can be owned in a similar way to physical property. The protection of the IP inherent in any new idea/ innovation is a crucial part of the process of developing economic impact from an idea as, without ownership of IP, gaining external investment in the project will be very difficult.
IP covers a number of different forms including patents, copyright, design rights and trademarks and these are all covered by different processes and requirements.
The aim of this seminar will be to explain how to identify what IP is protectable and to outline the processes relating to these different forms.
The seminar will be delivered by Dr Chris Moore, partner with patent attorney Harrison Goddard Foote.
The event will also give you a chance to find out more about how the BizzInn will work, inspect the new facilities on offer and network with entrepreneurs and academics.
We want to use BizzInn to build a dynamic environment around innovative entrepreneurs and we welcome business services providers who want to get involved in this new enterprise in order to support and build networks with the entrepreneur community.
If you are an entrepreneur in the process of getting a new, innovative business off the ground OR if you are a supplier of business services who would like to work with new start up business, please come along to find out more about this initiative and how you can get involved. If you have any contacts or clients who you believe would be interested in finding out about BizzInn, please do feel free to extend this invitation to them
