About this event

  • Event lasts 8 hours 30 minutes

Whether you are bagging the Munros or having a go at your first mountain in Scotland or Skye, a walk on Bla Bheinn is packed with interest; starting with lochs, waterfalls, leading to spectacular rock formations and views framed by them.

Arrival at the mountain is breathtaking when you see it across Loch Slapin. It can be intimidating too, but rest assured your guide, Lee, knows the mountain and can lead you up a route suited to your abilities.

Bla Bhein, pronounced ‘Blaven’, meaning Blue Mountain, is an outlier of the Cuillin Ridge, at the opposite side of the Black Cuillin caldera. The Cuillin Ridge is known among mountaineers as ‘Alpine’ where you can find climbs as challenging as those of the Alps, it is the terrain for experienced mountaineers. Our walks, including Bla Bheinn, are simply walks that get a bit steep. Any scrambling is always optional for those that want to have a try and Lee will keep you safe to ensure you can enjoy the breathtaking landscape. Bla Bheinn offers the most amazing view point of the Cuillin Ridge.

    Organised by

I live in the Highlands where I specialise in guiding in remote, hard-to-reach locations like Knoydart, and making adventures more sustainable.

I have been guiding in the outdoors since 2015. I began leading DofE groups as a volunteer and soon immersed myself in the outdoor world to become a professional guide, and complete some amazing adventures, both solo and as part of a team.

I hold the UK Mountain Leader Awards for guiding in Summer and Winter and a British Cycling Ride Leader Award.

My favourite personal adventure was cycling to and through the Alps in 2020, hiking and climbing on my days off the bike. Some would say my most notable achievement was cycling to the Alps a second time in 2022 to climb the Matterhorn and Dufourspitze (Monte Rosa). If you need help or advice on how to make your adventure more environmentally friendly, I'll be very happy to help you.
