Adult Safeguarding: Is it good to make someone safer if it makes them miserable?
Speaker: Alan Coe and Sandra Ashton-Jones
Alan is a Consultant in Social Care with a particular interest in Safeguarding. He is the Independent Chair of Wolverhampton's Adult and Children's Safeguarding Boards. He was an Assistant Director for Adult Social Care and also worked as an Inspector of Council Services for the Social Services Inspectorate (which became the Commission for Social Care Inspection). Alan has been the author of 8 Safeguarding Adult Reviews.
Sandra is the Safeguarding Manager for Adults in Wolverhampton. She is the Wolverhampton Safeguarding Adult Board Manager, and has management responsibility for the Mental Capacity/DoLS Team, Court of Protection, Protection of Property & Funeral Team and line manages the social work managers in the newly created Adult MASH. She chairs the West Midlands Safeguarding Policy & Procedure Editorial Group and has taken an active role in developing regional safeguarding policy and procedures which all the 14 West Midlands Safeguarding Adult Boards have adopted.
