An online session with an NHS expert and local faith leaders from the Black Community

About this event

*This event will have a BSL interpreter*

This is an an online session to help the community to hear from NHS experts on the vaccine and local faith leaders on why they think communities should take up the vaccine when they are offered it.

Sadly, there is a lot of misinformation and 'fake news' around the vaccine, so this is an opportunity for people in communities across the Black Country and wider West Midlands to ask any questions they have in relation to the Covid-19 vaccination.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Dr Masood Ahmed - Chief Medical Officer & CCIO at NHS Black Country & West Birmingham CCGs
  • Fartun Mohamud - IYES Community Association
  • Pastor Ezekiel Olaitan Obileye - Redeemed Christian Church of God
  • Said Odowa - IYES Community Association
  • Adam Shaban - Ghanaian Community
  • Jennifer Pearson, Lead Vaccination Nurse and Chair CNO delivery Group NHSE Midland and Midlands Lead Chief Nursing Officer (England) BME Strategic Advisory Group
  • Dr Amanda Chisholm - Wolverhampton born GP

Our Chair will be Councillor Sandra Samuels OBE, from City of Wolverhampton Council.

The aim of these webinars is to bring people together from across the West Midlands to:

  1. Increase people’s knowledge of the different faith perspectives on vaccinations.
  2. Breakdown conspiracy theories and myths around the topic.
  3. Increase social cohesion by bringing people together.
  4. Explore how we can all work TOGETHER across communities and faith groups, to improve uptake of vaccinations.
