Description

The 2018 Black Country Primary PE & Sport Premium Conference is aiming to be bigger and better than 2017.

The conference is FREE to attend, and is an opportunity for you to identify how the effective, sustainable and accountable use of the Primary School Premium Funding funding can:

  • support and enhance pupil progress
  • support the physical health and emotional wellbeing of pupils
  • integrate and connect the key elements of national strategies within school practice
  • support a quality workforce within and beyond the school
  • help schools to become grant compliant including identifying strategies to demonstrate monitoring of the spend


There is also the option to nominate your school for an award - further details below.


During the conference you have the opportunity to attend 3 workshops during the day. All workshops will identify the learning journey schools should follow and the tools and resources which might be used to improve outcomes for pupils.

You can choose from the following:

Workshop A: Health and wellbeing within and beyond the School.
Sharing of practice from 2 local schools on how they have successfully tackled inequalities through a process of self-review and action planning, the changes they have made to their practices and processes and the tools and resources they have used to achieve this.


Workshop B: Working with a range of External Providers
Local examples of how schools can successfully work:

a) In collaboration with coaches to develop a quality and sustainable workforce,

b) With their local secondary schools to enable successful transition.


Workshop C: Planning and Accountability
Effective spend and accountability measures – a workshop explaining the latest DfE guidance, exemplification support and explanations on Ofsted and accountability requirements ensuring grant compliance for the Primary PE & Sport funding.


Workshop D: Creating a Safe Active Learning Environment
This workshop will explore hot topics, frequently asked questions and strategies for creating a safe learning environment


Workshop E: Engaging Target Groups
Ensuring diversification and inclusion through utilising national strategies at a local level.


Workshop F: Active Schools

Active Learning across the curriculum – to meet the Chief Medical Officer recommendation of 60 minutes a day. Reviewing, planning, ideas and top tips – 10 sequential steps!


Black Country Primary PE & Sport Premium Awards

We will also be announcing the winners of the 2018 Black Country Primary PE and Sport Premium Awards during the conference.

These awards will celebrate the achievements and good work of our schools during 2017/18. Nominations are now open with the winning schools being announced during the conference.

The winners will automatically be nominated for the West Midlands Awards taking place in the Summer term. Winners of these awards will then proceed to the national finals taking place in September 2018.

The 3 categories available for nomination are:

  • Physical Activity & Health Enhancing Initiatives
  • Whole School Improvement
  • Up-Skilling Staff
