How biochemistry and biomedical research are addressing challenges specific to Black communities worldwide.
The role of UK universities in reaching and engaging local Black communities and future students.
Strategies for expanding the reach of biochemistry into Black communities in an organic, sustainable way that brings mutual benefits.

We are excited to welcome our plenary speakers, Dr. Simone Badal McCreath from the University of the West Indies and Dr. Valentine Akande from the Bristol Centre for Reproductive Medicine. Both are renowned researchers and leaders in medicine and biomedical science. They will share their personal career journeys and discuss their research, focusing on how their work supports Black communities in Bristol and beyond.

The event will conclude with a thought-provoking panel discussion on how we can continue to foster stronger connections between the biochemistry field and Black communities, both locally and globally. Attendees will gain insights into the important work being done and how we can contribute to creating a more inclusive and equitable future.
