Masa Mez, the newly founded design duo by Amy Brar and Ilayda Kal, debuts at the London Design Festival with Black Gold, an intimate, one-night-only sensory event at the iconic Algha Works warehouse in Hackney Wick.
Over two interactive hours, you’ll journey through taste, sound, and storytelling to explore urgent themes of consumption, climate shifts, and our collective futures through the lens of black pepper. Once worth its weight in gold, now the most consumed spice in the world — Black Gold transforms this everyday spice into the lens through which we explore these critical themes.
The night unfolds in three immersive and timed acts, each in collaboration with an artist enriching the experience with their art. Every moment is crafted to shift perspectives from the plate to the soundscape, inviting reflection on the way we eat, remember, and connect.
Imagine an experience curated for curious minds to come together: Black Gold is part dining, part installation, and part participatory artwork. With only 50 limited spots available, you are invited to this critical and collaborative night that merges design, culture, and sensory storytelling.
