Event description

Description

Did you know that the first black female broadcaster at the BBC lived in Camberwell? Or that the first documented interracial marriage took place in Southwark in 1770?

Starting at Herne Hill, we will walk through Brixton and discover the evolution of Black culture through talks and activities about local musicians, artists and political activists.

The walk will end with a visit to the Black Cultural Archives in Windrush Square, Brixton, and the option to stay for lunch in the café.

Meeting point: Herne Hill Station (Market Entrance)

CoolTan Arts believes walking is one of the best ways to improve your wellbeing. Walks are suitable for all levels of walking and are accessible to wheelchair users and people with disabilities. They are run by an experienced team of volunteers and participants including adults with experience of mental health disabilties. If you have any trouble finding the group on the day please call 07985 658443. Donations are very welcome.
