Black History Month Fashion Showcase: Radiant Ebony

This will be a celebration of the richness of the African and Caribbean people and their culture through fashion. The showcase will include latest designs in African inspired fashion, prints and textiles with trendy wears and styles showing the diversity and richness of the culture of the African Caribbean people.

The Sew London Project is a dynamic creative art, craft, recycling and sewing studio situated in Barking, East London where a range of sewing courses from beginners to advanced are offered. Headed by Kemi Oloyede, founder, trained artist and creative director, she uses beads, African print, shells, ebony wood and other items to create designs, gifts, bags accessories which are truly African inspired. The ethos of The Sew London Project is steeped in ethical fashion, elegance, style and special bespoke outfits that will create lasting memories.
Students from the academy's Media Make-up Course will be supporting the show with professional make-up services. The academy offers two main courses in Make up: Level 2 Hair & Media Makeup and Level 3 Theatrical, Special Effects, Hair & Media Makeup. Both courses are delivered by Shaneen Phipps who is also a working makeup artist.

2. Lordsprings Designs: Was created by Temi, in 2011 while studying Arts and Fashion design at college. Initially, starting out as Lords Fashion, then later re-branding as Lordspring Designs, Temi creates multi-functional garments and accessories that empower the wearer. She recognizes both African and western influences in her designs.
3. Wumi's Collection: a t-shirt brand themed around beauty and inspiration. We want people to wear beauty and share beauty.

Award winning writer, author and poet, Ola Awonubi who won first prize in the National words of colour competition, in 2008 for her short story, The Pink House. Ola's latest novel, Love’s Persuasion was published by Ankara Press – the Romance imprint of Cassava Press, Abuja. Nigeria
