Black History Month @ SPCA: Steel Pan in St Pancras 60 years on
Event Information
Description
In celebration of Black History Month and supported by LabTech, The Steel Pan Trust & SPCA will be hosting an original, unique and unforgettable experience for people of all ages to experience playing the steelpan!
This event is for local people to come together, have fun music-making and celebrating our wonderful diverse multicultural arts heritage in Camden.
The steel pan is a perfect instrument, as the basic skills are easy to learn and playing the instrument does not require any previous musical experience. It is possible for individuals, families or groups with any level of musical experience to accomplish a simple melody within a short period of time.
St Pancras Community Association are celebrating the 60th anniversary of London’s first carnival arranged by Camden-resident Claudia Jones at St Pancras town hall in 1959. In celebration of this historic event in 1959, 60 years on enjoy and experience a steelband performance, learn a rhythmic piece of music in our workshops and about the history and range of steelbands.
Due to popular demand, final few extra tickets now released for workshops - don't miss out on this community event celebrating Black History Month!
