Join The Motherhood Group for a powerful community-led event at the House of Commons during Black Maternal Mental Health Week UK — a national week of action, storytelling, and policy influence to make Black mothers visible.
This special morning will centre the lived experiences of Black mothers, with space to share your story, voice your concerns, and speak directly to those in power. Through community dialogue, and a collective call for justice, we aim to amplify the voices of Black women who have too often been ignored in the healthcare system.
We’ll also discuss themes from our new Black Maternal Mental Health Report, developed in partnership with the Centre for Mental Health and the Maternal Mental Health Alliance.
- The need for safe spaces in maternity and mental health care
- The importance of culturally competent services
- The impact of racism and trauma on Black mothers’ wellbeing
- The demand for equity and accountability at all levels of care
This isn’t just a policy event — it’s a space for community, conversation, visibility, and change.
