About this event

Join us at the end of Summer for a unique night of poetry, music, and print onboard the iconic Artsbarge.

Little Hirundine poetry press will be launching two new titles -- Black Sheep Vol.II, and Dérive, the debut pamphlet by Alex Priestley. Plus, the party gets started with new music from legendary York band After Midnight, who will be playing a special acoustic set.

With an atmospheric riverside location, team of friendly local artists and volunteers, and a well-stocked bar, what better place to spend an event soaking up new talent from York's distinctive poetry scene?

The Black Sheep Poetry Collective was founded in 2023 in the heart of York. We are a fluid core of young and emerging writers meeting throughout the year to work collaboratively on experimental site-specific poetry, responding to place. Our first collective volume, Black Sheep Vol. I, responded to Whitby. Our second book, Black Sheep Vol.II, responds to and archives the Artsbarge in Foss Basin, York, and was printed onsite over two weeks. We are very excited to launch this new book onboard the Artsbarge.

All Little Hirundine books are hand printed using traditional letterpress technique. As part of the launch event, come and have a go at pulling a print of a one-off print from Alex Priestley's debut pamphlet, Dérive.
