Description
After the unprecedented success of Sheroes in March, Lon-art is back at Ugly Duck to bring BLACK SHEROES MONTH. This their fourth social exhibition will give continuity to Sheroes - Lon-art’s most recent and biggest project to date - now with a focus on heroines within the black community.
BLACK SHEROES MONTH is a collaborative project that uses creative expression to give a voice to and turn our eyes towards silenced and overlooked black heroines – sheroes – throughout herstory, and offer inspiring female role models for us all.
FRIDAY OCTOBER 5
Black Sheroes Month preview night & The Colour of Madness book launch.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 6
Exhibition opens from 11am to 10pm

Spoken Word Line up
Cherrelle Salmon - Poet whose work captures the varying shades and intricacies of the practice of Female Genital Mutilation.
Chloe Filani - Artist, poet and public speaker who has been part of numerous events at Tate Britain or the ICA, among others. Her poems talk about her experience as a black transwoman in London and gender fluidity in the Yoruba culture.
Dylema - Nigerian British award nominated spoken word poet and multidisciplinary artist.

'Somatic Movement for Womxn's Empowerment' Workshop by Camille Barton
From 1 to 3.30pm.
A movement and meditation workshop to physically process the feelings we experience as a womxn.
