Event description

Description

Come and walk around Westminster to see the different statues and monuments that represent Black Londoners. You will hear about the history of the statues and how they came to be there. Learn about what you don't already know! Bring your cameras.

This particular walk is being held in conjunction with the African Holocaust Day remembrance ceremony taking place in Trafalgar Square on 20th August 2017. The walk will finish in the square when those who wish to participate in remembering and honouring our African ancestors can take part in this event.

Nelson Mandela is one of the most famous people in the world. Everyone has heard of him, but do you know where his statue is? Do you know why the statue is at a lower level than the other statues that surround him? Did you know he has more than one statue in London? Where are the others?

Where will you find the monument above, and what does it represent? Come along and find out.

Contact Avril on 07984 759 506.

Please ensure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather, and appropriate shoes. Bring an umbrella if necessary and food if you think you are going to get hungry on the walk. This walk takes you around London where you may be able to purchase food items but there is no food stop on the tour. Bring a bottle of water if it's very hot. The tour lasts 2 hours.
