Alongside the exhibition BLACK SUN RED GOLD: The Shape of Becoming, three short performances directed by Freya Nash will unfold as a meditation on metamorphosis; shifting between shadow and light, tension and release. Performer Yasmine Smith embodies the overarching themes of the show, giving form to transformation through somatic movement and the symbolic use of masks. The works trace identities in flux, revealing the emotional and psychological dimensions of change as a dance of shedding skins.
A soundscape composed by Oscar Abdullah accompanies the performances, deepening the sensory experience of the work.
Performances begin promptly at 3PM. Each is durational and responsive to the exhibition space; due to limited capacity, early arrival is strongly recommended.
