Blackwell's and New Internationalist: Technology, Inequality and Work
Thu 1 December 2016, 19:00 – 20:00 GMT
Blackwell’s is proud to collaborate with New Internationalist to present a panel on the topic of technology, inequality and work.
Bob Hughes’ ‘The Bleeding Edge’ dismisses the idea that technological advances are due to the relentless push of capitalism, and instead says its implementation has increased inequality. Bob is joined by The Spirit Level's co-author, the pioneering epidemiologist Professor Richard Wilkinson, and by Hertfordshire University's Professor Ursula Huws, who has spent more than 30 years researching and documenting the effects of new technologies on the poor, precarious and largely female workers on whom the "new economy" depends.
