Description

This lecture examines how blasphemy evolved in the west from the medieval to the modern period, concluding with observations on the phenomenon in the contemporary world, and how some of these issues might be approached in the future by cultures, governments, institutions and individuals seeking to resolve them. David Nash is Professor of History at Oxford Brookes University. He has published widely on the history of religion, crime and radicalism and is an acknowledged international expert on the history of blasphemy. Refreshments available from 5.30pm
