A thought provoking day of talks, performance, film, discussion panel and participatory workshops.

About this Event

The blimey! Lucretia symposium will focus on the themes of the blimey! Lucretia project, with a range of guests speakers and performers, interactive workshops and debate.

How might we think about Guido Reni’s ‘Death of Lucretia’ in the post #metoo era? What is our relationship to art in the museum setting? How do we create new spaces in which to open up fresh ideas about representation and engagement?

Guest speakers include Dr Howard Coutts - curator at the museum, Lisa Charlotte Davies – Managing Director at Changing Relations, Peter McArdle – artist/writer and Tina Sikka Newcastle University.

Eliot Smith Dance will be performing a special version of In Plain Movement.

There will be an opportunity to select one of three activities on the day, including –

• Textile workshop with artist Rachel Nixon

• Human Form mixed media workshop with The Bowes Museum Education Team

• Collage workshop with blimey! Collective

The day will conclude with a panel discussion.

Join blimey! and speakers including artists, researchers and educators
