Description

Talk and demonstration by Annie Fennymore with her guide dog Mary.

Annie Fennymore from Walton-on- the Naze in Essex was just 28 years of age when she started having blurred vision. It was during this period that she took up painting. Annie was then told that by the age of 40 she would have no remaining vision. Refusing to treat this as an ending Annie resolved to embrace the change as a new beginning.

Annie has gone on to develop her own unique way of painting using acrylic paints and raised tactile methods to define her shapes. Only using a brush for backgrounds and larger canvases. Annie will demonstrate with some of the materials she uses including how she paints with her electronic aids.

Besides painting Annie is a volunteer with Essex Blind Charity and with the Deaf/Blind UK as a befriender. Most recently she has been working with Help 4 Heroes at their recovery centre in Colchester, and gave an interview to British Forces Broadcasting Service.

In 2017 Moorfields Eye Hospital, ECI invited Annie to display a tactile exhibition of her work for visitors to enjoy and interact with. She continues to produce a collection of work and is regularly invited to exhibit at Galleries and venues throughout the country. Annie expresses enthusiasm, energy and vitality in everything she does. In her own words: “Whatever you want to do, do it because you really want to and do it with love because it will show" Annie Fennymore
