British Bass-Baritone Ashley Riches was a Jette Parker Young Artist at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden from 2012-14. Prior to this he studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, having read English at Cambridge University, where he was a member of the King’s College Chapel Choir under Stephen Cleobury. Ashley has already established himself in both opera and concerts with Esa-Pekka Salonen, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Sir Roger Norrington, Paul McCreesh, Jonathan Cohen, Robin Ticciati, Jan Latham-Koenig, David Hill and Richard Egarr. Recent and forthcoming highlights include performances at English National Opera, and with the Berlin Philharmonic, Philharmonia Orchestra, Academy of Ancient Music and with Joseph Middleton for Radio 3. He appears with Graham Johnson on the recent release of Complete Songs (Poulenc) for Hyperion. He is joined in this recital at Pembroke College by Joseph Middleton, described in Opera Now as 'a perfect accompanist.'
