Event description

Description

We are running some special workshops for the Brighton Science Festival during half term on Monday February 12th and Tuesday February 13th 2018! Come and learn all about the water cycle, or redesign Brighton Marina, using Minecraft!

We will be running two days of workshops with two themes. Monday is all about the water cycle, and Tuesday focuses on redesigning Brighton Marina.

Monday 11am to 1pm, and 2pm to 4pm:
Come and join BlockBuilders for an exploration of the hidden world of the water cycle in Brighton. Our interactive Minecraft map will have you evaporating from the sea, condensing into clouds and then falling back to the ground where you enter the hidden tunnels of the chalk block and must find your way to the aquifer. You will explore where the water goes and how it all works, whilst having fun in Minecraft.

Tuesday 11am to 1pm, and 2pm to 4pm:
Use our new digital model of Brighton Marina to redesign it the way you want it! We will begin with a chat about the space, and what you like and dislike about how it currently is. You will then come up with ideas for the future of the area, and collabortively bring those ideas to life on our Minecraft map of the Marina.

Information:

£15 per child plus Eventbrite fee. 2 hour workshops. Ages 7 and up.
Workshop times:
Monday 12th - 11am to 1pm, and 2pm to 4pm.
Tuesday 13th - 11am to 1pm, and 2pm to 4pm.

We provide all equipment so no need to bring any laptops!
We film/photograph parts of our sessions for our own promotional use on our website and to apply for grants to help us run more events.

Made possible by the Brighton and Lewes Downs UNESCO World Biosphere Region which acts as an international demonstration area to connect people and nature and so pioneer a positive future, working across the city and towns, downs and the coast.
