About this event

  • 2 hours

With its thin skins and its penchant for cooler climates, Pinot Noir is notoriously fickle. But when done right, it more than lives up to its reputation of pure greatness, not to mention its often eye-watering price tag.

Loved for its smooth tannins, juicy red fruits and seductive perfume, its ability to take on differences in terroir is unparralled, so much so that a light, savoury Pinot from Burgundy's Gevrey Chambertin often tastes vastly different to a brooding Nuits-Saint-Georges made just six miles south. Needless to say, if you look beyond Europe you'll see that there are skilled winemakers all over the world giving Burgundy a run for its money, with many doing a very good job indeed.

Tonight, we'll be showing that Pinot Noir is as diverse as it comes, from a fun, gluggable bottle from Chile, to a sophisticated Burgundian and a smooth Asutralian, and everything in between, without the need for a sky-high budget.

Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
